Feeling the Holiday Spirit

So this past weekend we took it upon ourselves to deck the halls and enjoy some quality time with friends.  I baked some bread and an apple pie.  Thanks to Bryan for slicing all my apples for me.  Then we had some friends over for lunch to help decorate our tree and  also went to an 'Escanaba in da Moonlight" themed Christmas party.  Here are some of the highlights.

Update.

It has been a busy rest of November around here.  I was traveling to the Green Bay area for work a few days a week as well as up Merrill for another project.  I think the field work should be winding down for me though...especially since the snow will be falling soon.  Bryan has made it through another round of parent teacher conferences and been busy with a few little projects around the house.  A new ecoflow shower head and a recessed light in our shower and ground some  more stumps down in the backyard.

I had some ladies over from work a couple weekends back and we managed to get the canoes out one last time this season.

Then last weekend Shannon stopped up to make her first quilt.  It is a baby quilt for her friends new baby boy River.  She did an awesome job.  We look forward to Thanksgiving and seeing many of you.

Oh, and my 8 week doctors appointment went well.  It really was just a routine visit getting me into the system, getting family medical history, and drawing blood and urine samples for screenings.  I haven't heard back from them so that is a good thing, as they were only going to contact me if the tests showed something of concern. Our next visit will be an exciting one.  We will get to hear our babies heartbeat and get our first glimpse at it with an ultrasound.  In order for Bryan to make it won't be until Jan.4th when I will 14 weeks along.  I'll be sure to post ultrasound pics and a baby bump pic if i'm showing by then.

Baby on the way!

We are not telling everyone yet, but this past week has been a lot of fun breaking the big news to immediate family and a few closest friends.  We hope to spread the word about this website and the baby at thanksgiving after our 8 week appointment with our midwife on Nov. 20th.

Crafty weekend with the girls!

Last weekend my little sister Alissa made her first quilt and my friend Jane came over as well and tried her hand at appliqué for the first time.  I made a dog bed for buster and a little pillow that will fit in his kennel.  I also started adding names to my name quilt made by my grandma along with a cool little fabric accent to some glass jars I got at an estate sale.

Another Quilt Complete!

Ever since I inherited my grandma's fabric stash I have been putting the skills she taught me to work.  I just finished my third baby quilt for our friends the Dexter's baby girl Rory.

Here is the one I made for Eva, Anna and Adrian's little girl.
And here is the one I made for Jill and Scott's little girl Aubrey...All three of these little ones were born in the same week so I was pretty busy at the sewing machine.

First photo in a blog.

So I have been waiting to due another post until I took the time to learn how to add pictures which is taking me longer than it should.   I have been caught up with a quilt this past month and it is taking up my free time.  Then I come in to write this and see there is a little picture icon above and all you do is click in navigate to the photo you want...how simple.  I get to see Shannon this weekend so I thought I would put up a good one of us from my rehersal dinner three years ago...I can't believe I have been married that long.

Well here is to learning new things and for more picture laden posts to come!

Seeing what this blog thing is all about.

I have been following a few blogs lately and I am really curious as to what it takes to keep one up.  I hope to use it as a little digital scrapbook to my life with my husband Bryan and our little dog Buster and our little family as it grows through time.  It seems like a much better and more personal way to keep friends and family in the loop than facebook can really be.  So here it goes...let's hope I am more diligant at updating this than I was with any of my diaries growing up:)
